A little history: the name of the hotel

The Connetable takes its name from the function of Count of the Stables, which appeared in France at the time of the establishment of the first two dynasties.

Formerly responsible for the stewardship of the king's stables and horses, with the marshals under his orders, the count of the stables gradually saw his responsibilities increase. After 1191, he became “Sovereign leader of the king’s armies”.

The last constable of France was the Duke of Lesdiguières, born in Saint-Bonnet in 1611.
